05/13/2022 | After 3 years of absence, the Agriculture of Nouvelle-Aquitaine returns to its quarters at the Parc des Expositions in Bordeaux
From May 21 to 29, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Agricultural Show is back at the Parc des Expositions in Bordeaux. If the event was able to offer a form of resistance to Covid 19 for its 2020 and 2021 editions by taking an essentially digital format, it has already been 3 years since the neo-Aquitaine agricultural world was deprived of its celebration with the general public. A time of conviviality, gluttony, and meetings to communicate on the richness and variety of regional agricultural production but also to discuss the issues and challenges of the sector. A Show which offers a new configuration for its return, while developing a hybrid dimension thanks to the reinforcement of Agriweb.tv.
If the Agricultural Show is still and always held in Bordeaux as part of the International Fair, one of its challenges for 2022 is to succeed in being present throughout the territory of New Aquitaine, insists its President Dominique Graciet . To do this, the event will take a “hybrid” form, thanks to the retransmission on Agriweb.tv of many times of exchanges and round tables organized during the Show on a dedicated “Foragri” space, but also by associating fully involved in the “Put on your boots” operation, from May 14 to 29, which makes it possible to host 75 events throughout the regional territory. Cattle and sheep
Another new feature at the Show is the expansion of Aquitanima, the Bovine Genetics Show. From now on, the cattle breeds of New Aquitaine will be found throughout the 9 days of the Show, and no longer only on the first 3 days, as was the tradition until then. A return of Aquitanima and the breeders which also heralds the return of breed competitions and other auctions, organized in the central ring, and always very popular with the public.
The icing on the cake of Aquitanima, the reception at the end of the event, of the National Competition of the Bazadaise breed. A first in Bordeaux! An event for this meat breed from the Girondin cradle which, after having been almost forgotten for a whole part of the 20th century, now has 3300 animals in the great South West, and some great successes beyond our borders! Apart from the Bazadaise, the Limousine, Blonde d’Aquitaine and Prim’holstein breeds will also resume their parades in the ring of Hall 4 of agriculture. At their side, 4 other breeds invited for presentation: Charolaises, Parthenaise, Jerseys and Salers. [Lire notre article sur Aquitanima]
Under Hall 4, if the poultry will not be there due to an avian crisis, the sheep will be there. And they have their place there since the Neo-Aquitaine herd has 1,273,000 sheep spread over 12,500 farms! From 24 to 29 May: 17 meat or milk breeds will be on display, as well as many activities around herding dogs, shearing and even presentations of the different quality signs (7!) under which meat and sheep sheep dairy sheep from Nouvelle-Aquitaine can be valued.
Horses, donkeys and mules
Finally, of course, the Salon de l’agriculture de Nouvelle-Aquitaine would not be the Salon de l’agriculture de Nouvelle-Aquitaine without the rich programming linked to the equine world and its dedicated show: “Equitaine”. A weighty sector in our region, since there are 5,700 farms there! Aimed at both professionals and the general public, the event promotes all forms of equine practice, from breeding to leisure riding, including sport or agricultural work.
Demonstrations and competitions of all kinds (pony ball, western, TREC, agricultural work, hunter, donkey breeding, aerobatics, handling test, obstacle jumping, equifeel…) presentations of local breeds (draft horses, donkeys and mules) driving baptisms, explanation of animal osteopathy… The program will be busy on the side of the Great Career of the Show, without forgetting on Wednesday May 25 a “Giant Pony Club” day, open to all children for several workshops to discover the equestrian world.
Of course, on this XXL farm that is the Agricultural Show, gastronomy is far from being forgotten. A space is dedicated to it, to best promote some of the 301 products bearing a sign of origin and quality found in New Aquitaine. However, to talk about gastronomy, the best thing is to bring the taste buds into the game. On the program of this space piloted by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Food Agency, and the Bordeaux and Aquitaine Wine Competition, many culinary demonstrations and tastings, food and wine pairings, meetings with producers, and themed days around the region’s flagship sectors. Among the essentials, the Brotherhoods, ambassadors of the products and recipes of their territory, will be back in the aisles of the Show. Unmistakable with the colorful dresses and the communicative good humor of their members!
Delicacies and good humor will also be on the menu at the Farmers’ Market hosted by around fifteen producers from all over the region. Oysters, charcuterie, duck, chicken, beef, cheese, Armagnac, pastries or even goat’s milk ice cream can be enjoyed on site or taken away. New for this beating heart of the Show: it will also be present throughout the Show.
Agricultural trades and practices
Finally last large outdoor space, the agricultural event: “Agoragri”. Dedicated “to dialogue and societal exchange between professionals and the general public on agricultural professions and practices”, as Bruno Millet, General Commissioner of the Show, describes it, it is divided into 5 thematic areas. The Plant, Animal, Territory, Professions pole, and finally the “Innov’Show”. This allows the public to try their hand at driving state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, sometimes triggering the birth of vocations.
Triggering vocations or at the very least making agricultural professions and training better known, such is the vocation of the Professions pole which will welcome many training players as well as the traveling truck “L’Aventure du vivant”, which presents more than 200 jobs through many digital and fun tools.
If Agoragri is intended to enlighten visitors on topics that are often subject to debate such as seeds and biodiversity, animal welfare, methanation, fishing or hunting, these discoveries and exchanges always take the side of benevolence. and friendliness. Here again, many games and activities are offered for young and old in this Agoragri universe. So much so that this year, the aisles of the Show will be animated by a traveling improvisation troupe which will offer skits on various themes related to agriculture.
As Aqui has long been a partner of the Salon de l’Agriculture, notably through the co-organization of an Installation and Transmission Day (this year on May 24), it is at the Salon de l’Agriculture in Nouvelle-Aquitaine that will be launched on Saturday May 21, a Joël Aubert Prize, in honor of the man and the journalist who was the founder of Aqui.fr who died in February 2021.
