the Escambis-Festivalorganized by theAssociation Aquí l’Oc, aims to facilitate exchanges, meetings, hence the name Escambis, between stakeholders and the population. It has the particularity of addressing a wide audience: those who speak Occitan or not, those who are from here or not… Welcome to Saint-Céré, Bannes and Saint-Jean-Lagineste.
When tradition and modernity meet
Tradition and modernity will combine to make discover and share this culture and this language. The programming is intended to be as broad as possible so that young and old can find themselves in areas as varied as music, singing, dancing, crafts, theatre, storytelling.
The Escambis Festival is an original festival that promotes cultural diversity in a territory that is just waiting to be enriched. Its strength is to bring together in a friendly and festive atmosphere, in the convivéncia, this art of living together. The 7th edition will take place on May 20, 21 and 22 in Saint-Céré, Bannes and Saint-Jean-Lagineste.
Program of the escambis festival on May 20, 21 and 22
– Friday 20 mayall day, at the MJC of Saint-Céré, will take place the Occitan school gathering open to all and free.
Morning : songs, nursery rhymes, dances, poems, sketches.
Afternoon : restitution of music and theater projects with the assistance of Lot arts vivants and the Occitanie-Pyrénées Méditerranée region.
6 p.m. : Oc coffee.
8:30 p.m. : screening of the film Paddington in the original Occitan version with French subtitles for all audiences. Single price: €3.
– Saturday 21 May, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the small village of Bannes, between Saint-Céré and Lacapelle-Marival, local craftsmen and producers will be present to promote their know-how and discover their quality products. A garage sale will also be organised. Price: €2.50 per ml.
Fast food on reservations. Price: €10.
Refreshment bar and stand selling books and Occitan cultural products all day.
2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., young and old can take part in a bilingual storytelling walk or a bilingual conference-slideshow on birds by Pèire Thouy. Free entry.
At 4:30 p.m., readings of poems and dedications by its author Jean-Jacques Delmas, on the occasion of the publication of part of his work by the association Aquí l’Òc. Free entry.
Afternoon, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.dedications by Manon Larraufie of her latest book.
7 p.m.: aperitif-concert and inauguration of the Festival.
7:30 p.m.: meals by reservation. Prices: €20 for adults – €10 for children – Meal + ball concert: €25 for adults – €20 for members.
At 21ha concert-balèti evening will be on the agenda with the Anem Trio and Ventastic formations that will have you dancing for hours, à la Bannes village hall.
Prices: €10 for adults / €5 for members. Free for children
Anem Trio is a group that makes you rediscover the trad ball. Their dance music is a tasty mix of the origins to which they hold. Nicolas Peuch is the child of the Périgord region. Lucia Roulet is a Gascon from Bordeaux. Thomas Doornenbal is a Dutchman who has adopted Occitan traditions. Everything is imbued with influences from here and elsewhere.
Ventastic: let yourself be surprised by this explosive duo mixing the breaths of the accordion, bagpipes, fife, transverse flute or singing!
Guillaume Roussilhe and Benoît Pradines take you dancing to the rhythms of aerophones and singing, a journey through their Quercy origins enriched by numerous stops in Occitania and beyond, colored with a touch of modernity by their compositions and arrangements.
– Sunday 22 mayin the afternoon, at the village hall of St-Jean-Lagineste, you will find La Compagnie Lilo and L’Illustre Théâtre d’Anglars.
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. : From the Originala Version to the Occitana Version, by La Compagnie Lilo.
Film and cartoon dubbing workshop in Occitan
This will be an opportunity for the public to come and work and lend their voices to the proposed films Paddington, Lo Grand Mashant Renard, Terminator 2. Line Bouthier and Émilie Dussarrat will lead this workshop for a maximum of 15 people. Reservations required.
Prices: €10 for adults. €5 for members and children under 18
From 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.: The Illustre Théâtre d’Anglars will offer two bilingual plays “La Fachilhièra del vilatge”, the troupe’s latest creation, as well as “Filomène, et Zigoto de Gustave”.
The fachilhièra : Linette tells the village that during the night she saw a ghost. His neighbor Marie thinks the ghost might exist. Basile, for the moment, thinks that Linette has visions: does he have other worries? Yes the Doctor explains that ghosts can exist. Is this a story invented by Linette? You will find out when you come to the village hall of Saint-Jean-Lagineste.
Filomene and Zigoto by Gustave : Gaston caught the flu with complications. Touenou, Gaston’s friend, came to hear from him. Filomene tells him that the Doctor had come to see him, he thinks that Gaston had an “in-toxi-cation” then he must also be purged and that he remains 3 days without eating.
