Labradors, bulldogs or chihuahuas, there are many of them wandering around the Principality every day. Monaco Grandstand goes to meet the dogs of the Principality and some of them testify to their living conditions.
Places dedicated to dogs…
Based on Your Monaco, it seems that the Principality cares about the well-being of our dogs. On the site, you can find all the places dedicated to our canines. For example, at the foot of the Trocadero in Monte-Carlo. The space, although difficult to find, invites our animals to stay as long as they have to. Especially since the agents of the Monegasque Sanitation Company (SMA) regularly clean the premises.
During our walk, an element that marks us immediately is the presence of garbage cans and bag dispensers in any neighborhood. Indeed, Monaco encourages its inhabitants to best protect the space where they live. Especially since if our doggies leave their needs in the open air, they risk a fine of 300 euros.

…but others are forbidden!
So can we say that our dogs can go where they want? We quickly notice that no! Lawns, beaches and gardens, there are many spaces that do not welcome our animals. We see this with the Japanese Garden which welcomes its visitors with the sign “Forbidden to dogs”. The few grass spots in Monaco are explicitly forbidden to dogs by the same signs.
A ban which is also in force on Larvotto beach. Our dogs are only prohibited on the beach area, but they can roam anywhere on the refurbished complex. A space for their needs is even dedicated to them near the beach.

It is near the latter that we meet Guizmo, a nine-year-old Shih tzu who is doing his walk near the Larvotto. A situation ” exceptional for Gui-Gui who explains to us: “ usually, I walk on the Chemin des Douaniers in Cap d’Ail, dogs are accepted there and we have the sea! » Is it to have more space? ” Sure ! » replies his master, Dominique, without hesitation. ” Everything is forbidden for dogs in Monaco, it’s really complicated. »
A severe lack of green space
After the sea, we approach Condamine. We meet Aldo there, says Doudou. This young husky mix beauceron of one year and one month explains to us that “the few points of herbs that we have are small enclosures where all the dogs go to relieve themselves. A problem for Aldo, but also for his master Yves who finds that the dog has no real space to exercise. ” When my wife goes running with Aldo, it’s in Cap d’Ail. Despite everything, Aldo tells us that he is ” very satisfied ” at Monaco. Nevertheless, before leaving, he tells us about a subject that bothers him:“People need to collect their dogs’ needs!” »
To confirm these statements, we meet Ixie, a nine-year-old French bulldog. Ixie or Titine, for those close to us, explains to us:“Before, I lived in Fontvieille and then I went to Les Agaves and there’s no more lawn space there! “His mistress, Jordane, adds that this lack of green spaces “ fact that the dogs then defecate all over the street. » Needs that are not picked up afterwards? According to Jordane, this problem may be due to the fact that the bag dispensers are still not filled. Nevertheless, Ixie clarifies that when they encounter SMA agents “we ask directly for the rolls and he passes them to us without any problem. »
We are continuing our investigation in the Monte-Carlo district, in the Casino Gardens. On our way, we meet an agent of the SMA, Hadad. Does he often have to pick up dog necessities? His response took us by surprise. ” Either there are no dogs here either dogs don’t poop ! A reassuring news for the neighborhood, but especially for the masters who, therefore, collect the needs of their dogs. ” I don’t know where they got their dogs, but they are well behaved. In the Monte-Carlo area, I mainly collect leavescigarette butts. »
